Mom, am I cool?
my 6-year-old is curious,
so-and-so says I am not!

And so it starts.

Sure you’re cool.
And anyway, what does it matter
what so-and-so thinks about you.

But to a six-year-old it does
Just like to the most of us.

An hour later he is back
all dressed up in ninja gear
sneaking around the corners
fighting imaginary foes.

The others?
They have disappeared.

To be cool or not to be?
It simply doesn’t matter

At least as long
as this moment lasts.
